Lucile Packard Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Chances are, your baby will be perfect in every way. But if your baby is premature or requires intensive care, your newborn will be cared for on site. The Lucile Packard Special Care Nursery is a six-bed, Level II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) located within the Sequoia Hospital Birth Center and staffed by doctors and nurses from Packard Children’s neonatology team, which is ranked #5 in the nation by U.S.News. This Level II designation means Sequoia has the expertise and equipment to care for and stabilize high-risk newborns.

If you are discharged from the hospital while your baby remains in the Special Care Nursery, there are limited overnight facilities available for you and your family. Please talk to your nurse for more information. Family togetherness remains our first priority.
