The Team
Obstetricians
All of the obstetricians are board-certified. Because Sequoia is not a teaching hospital, there are no interns or residents—only highly experienced physicians. In about 90% of cases, the doctor who cared for you during your pregnancy will deliver your baby.
Pediatricians
Your pediatrician will visit you and your baby each day.
Neonatologists
A full time board-certified neonatologist, backed by five board-certified/eligible pediatricians is available to provide 24-hour care to babies.
Anesthesiologists
Anesthesia coverage is available 24 hours every day. Anesthesia services are provided by two independent groups, Sequoia Anesthesia Consultants and West Bay Anesthesia.
Nursing Staff
Nursing experience plays a major role in the Birth Center. Each nurse is trained in fetal monitoring and neonatal resuscitation. And, our nurses see each woman as an individual and tailor her care to her needs and the birth plan she has chosen. We know, for example, that having a second baby is different from, but no less important than, having your first baby. We know when a few extra words of encouragement can help and when you want to be left alone. And we know that family wishes should come first throughout this important day in the life of you and your baby.
