Fast and accessible: Sequoia’s ER has an outstanding record of door to physician time. On average, patients are seen by a physician within 21 ½ minutes of entering the ER. 82% of patients are seen by a physician in 30 minutes or less. 91% of patients are triaged in 15 minutes or less.

Sequoia ranks among the fastest emergency cardiac care in California. The American Heart Association recommends that hospitals provide emergency heart care within 90 minutes of hospital arrival, and Sequoia Hospital has met these guidelines 100% of the time. On average, heart attack patients requiring emergency care are being treated in our catheter labs within 61 minutes of hospital arrival, dramatically improving their chances of surviving a heart attack.

First adopter of new technology. Sequoia Hospital is the first in San Mateo County to implement Lifenet System. The new LIFENET System may reduce the door-to-flow time by up to ten additional minutes by sending a digital transmission of the patient’s ECG directly from the field to the hospital, allowing the ER to prepare the necessary team in advance of the patient’s arrival.
