Emergency Medicine

Fast, Easy and Accessible

For more than 55 years, Sequoia Hospital's Emergency Department has provided superior care to patients on the Peninsula -- from minor injuries to life-threatening situations. Our family-oriented approach takes the extra steps necessary to provide a comfortable and caring environment. The complex nature of emergency medicine requires specialized precision and skill, and we take pride in offering one of the most highly rated emergency departments in the Bay Area.

A leader in cardiovascular care in Northern California, cardiologists and Sequoia’s emergency department give chest pain patients highest priority care as evidenced in a streamlined admission process that ensures immediate attention. Sequoia achieves the guideline of treatment in 90 minutes or less, as recommended by the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology, 100% of the time. Door-to-flow times are among the fastest in the state, on average 61 minutes, dramatically improving a patient’s chance of surviving a heart attack.

The Emergency Department is fully staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our entire staff, from receptionists and nurses to X-ray technicians, works diligently to provide high quality, compassionate care to all patients. The Emergency Department physicians are members of California Emergency Physicians Medical Group (CEP), the leading provider of staffing, management, and consulting services in California since 1975.

Sequoia Hospital is the first in San Mateo County to implement Lifenet System.  Read more about it here.
