Patient FAQs

What does fasting mean?
Fasting means no food or drink except water for 12 hours before testing. Patients may take their medications during the fasting interval. Physicians may order patients to be fasting for certain tests, such as glucose or lipid panels. But not all tests require a patient to fast.

Do I need an appointment for laboratory testing?
No. Our facility is on walk-in basis, first come first serve. No appointment is necessary unless your doctor ordered Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) or Cortisol Stimulation study.

What is the appointment process for 3-hour Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT)?
Patients need to call our facility to set-up an appointment; we generally schedule only one 3-hours GTT a day. Appointments are set up during weekdays at 8:00am.

Does the laboratory perform TB Skin Testing?
No.

Do you accept Kaiser or Lab One insurance?
We do not accept Kaiser or LabOne insurance. Patient with Kaiser or LabOne receiving Lab services at Sequoia will be considered as private pay and will be financially responsible for all expenses.

Where is the Laboratory located?
The Hospital Main Laboratory is located on the first floor.

Where can I park?
Patients to have laboratory tests can park in any Outpatient parking. The closet parking lot to the laboratory is located next to the Emergency Department.

What do I need to bring when I go to the laboratory?
You need to bring your insurance card and the laboratory order/slip from your physician.

Can I go direct to the laboratory and have a blood test even if I don't have an order?
No. You MUST have an order from your physician in order to have a blood test or any other laboratory tests.

I'm from out of state and need to have a blood test, can I still go to your facility?
Yes you can as long as you have the order from your doctor and their information. Due to recent Federal HIPAA guidelines, we will need to verify all information prior to sending the results to your doctor.
