Nutrition Education and Weight Loss Programs
• Diabetes Center Individual Nutrition Counseling For patients with Pre-diabetes, Type 1 and 2 Diabetes, Pregnancy and Diabetes. Addresses blood glucose management and other medical concerns - hyperlipidemia, hypertension, kidney disease, weight management, malnutrition. Most insurances will cover. • Diabetes Center Weight Loss and Diabetes Program – 12 week information and group support program designed for those with diabetes and pre-diabetes. Includes initial individual appointment with a Registered Dietitian/Diabetes Educator. Speakers, weight loss tips, telephone and group support. 12 weeks, $80. • Nutritional Counseling Nutrition counseling by a registered dietitian for specific disease states including: kidney disease, hyperlipidemia, obesity, hypertension, and cancer; and for health promotion including general nutrition guidelines for pregnancy, sports and weight management. • OPTIFAST Weight Management This hospital-based, medically supervised program treats patients who are overweight and may have obesity-related medical problems. Tuesday evenings; call (650) 482-6065 for more information. Fee.
• Surgical Weight Loss Program offers the morbidly obese patient the opportunity to lose their weight with the help of surgery. Four types of surgery procedures are available. Weight loss is usually very rapid and patients can see dramatic positive changes in their health. Monthly support group meetings are held on Saturdays, usually the first Saturday of the month.
