Treatment Delivery
Daily treatments of external beam radiation are done by highly skilled and compassionate radiation therapists. These highly trained individuals are board certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and licensed by the State of California.
Treatment Planning
Conformal treatment may entail complex three-dimensional planning. Treatment plans devise ways to tailor the dose of radiation to best treat the tumor area and spare normal tissue from any excess radiation. Treatment planning is done by our Medical Physicists. The department is equipped with a versatile, state of the art ADAC Pinnacle 3-D treatment planning computer that has IMRT treatment planning capability. The Medical Physicist enters all of the information from the localizing simulation and/or downloads the treatment planning CT scan into the computer. Several options are produced for the physician's view.
