For Patients and Families
Care of your Spirit
Sequoia Hospital staff care for you, as a whole person, body, mind and spirit. Spiritual Care Services is a vital member of your multi-disciplinary treatment team. Chaplains, representing a variety of faith traditions, are available to support you in using YOUR spiritual resources in your healing. Chaplains are also available to support your loved ones during your hospitalization.
When might you call a Chaplain?
Chaplains care for you and/or your loved ones' spiritual needs. These needs can include a search for meaning, a hope for relationship healing, or the desire for enhanced self-worth and support.
You and/or your loved ones can call a Chaplain when desiring emotional and spiritual support during the treatment process, or when you have a particular spiritual or religious concern.
Please feel welcomed to contact your Chaplains. A Chaplain is available for spiritual counseling and ethical consultation if you
- want to talk about a change in your condition
- are frustrated with the disease process
- are undergoing treatment that has raised ethical questions for you
- are asking 'why' questions
- have religious/spiritual or cultural concerns affecting your treatment
- find yourself grieving
- have discovered new possibilities in your life
- desire additional support
Can anyone see a Chaplain?
Yes. Chaplains are trained to respond to persons within the range of faith traditions or no spiritual tradition at all. Spiritual care services are available at no cost.
