Patient Safety and Security

Personal Belongings
Please bring only essential items such as a robe, slippers, personal care items and no more than $5 cash. Please do not bring jewelry, wallets or electrical appliances. To have small valuables locked in a safe, please speak with your nurse. We recommend that arrangements be made to have wheelchairs, walkers and canes returned to your home during your hospitalization.

Wheelchairs
Wheelchairs are available on all nursing units, but getting in and out of them without assistance may be hazardous. Please ask for help from a member of the hospital staff.

Fire and Disaster Drills
For your protection, Sequoia Hospital conducts fire and disaster drills regularly. If a drill occurs while you are staying at the hospital, please remain in your room and do not become alarmed. The hospital staff will assist you.

Medications
All medications you take while in the hospital are prescribed by your physician, dispensed by the hospital pharmacy and administered by a nurse. Patients are not permitted to keep their own drugs or keep personal medications (including vitamins, herbs or nutritional supplements) at their bedsides unless specifically ordered by their physician.

Smoking
Sequoia is a smoke free campus and will prohibit smoking in all areas of the main campus, including the grounds, the parking lots and garages, the Health & Wellness Center and the Physical Therapy Center on Veterans Boulevard.
