A.W.A.K.E. (Alert, Well And Keeping Energetic)
A free support group for sleep disordered breathing (sleep apnea) and other sleep disorders. Second Wednesday of each month at Sequoia Hospital; please call the Sleep Disorders Center at (650) 367-5137 for more information or to sign up for email notice.
Better Breathers Club
Support group for patients with lung disease and their families. Monthly sessions feature a guest speaker and include group discussion. Group meets the third Monday of the month. For information call (650) 367-5550.

F.A. Group Meeting
F.A. is a fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience and mutual support, are recovering from the disease of food addictions. Meets every Tuesdays, 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.

Diabetes Center
This American Diabetes Association certified center offers treatment and education for people living with pre-diabetes, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and diabetes during pregnancy. Most classes require physician referral; some services are fee for service and others are covered by insurance. For more information, call (650) 367-5213.
• Blood Glucose Meter Instruction - A blood glucose meter will be provided and instruction given by a diabetes educator. No fee.
• Pre-Diabetes Course – 3-hour course to learn what lifestyle changes can prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes. $75.00
• Comprehensive Diabetes Self-Management Course- This 10-hour course is recognized as a program of excellence by the American Diabetes Association. Learn how to manage diabetes, avoid complications and get a better understanding of medications and reactions. Medicare and most insurances will cover.
• Self-Management Refresher Course – 2-hour refresher for those who have completed the 10-hour course. Nutrition review, ethnic foods, and updates on new diabetes treatments. Medicare and most insurances will cover.
• Intensive Insulin Treatment Program –Individual training for those with type 1 diabetes. Importance of intensive therapy (near normalization of blood glucose levels) and carbohydrate counting techniques. Prerequisite to insulin infusion pump initiation. Most insurance will cover.
• Pump Initiation – Initiation takes place over two consecutive days of training. The staff and your endocrinologist will work together to “fine tune” the process. Most insurances will cover.
• Meal Planning Workshop – Follow-up for those with previous diabetes education. Plan sample menus following the calculated appropriate calories and nutrients levels. 1 ½ hours. $15.00
• Grocery Store Tour – Participants practice food label reading while learning to shop for usual meal planning. 1 ½ hours. $15.00
• Individual Nutrition Counseling For patients with Pre-diabetes, Type 1 and 2 Diabetes, Pregnancy and Diabetes. Addresses blood glucose management and other medical concerns - hyperlipidemia, hypertension, kidney disease, weight management, malnutrition. Most insurances will cover.
• Weight Loss and Diabetes Program – 12 week information and group support program designed for those with diabetes and pre-diabetes. Includes initial individual appointment with a Registered Dietitian/Diabetes Educator. Speakers, weight loss tips, telephone and group support. 12 weeks, $80.
• Sweet Success Program – This certified diabetes and pregnancy program are for those with gestational diabetes or diabetes and pregnancy, as well as pre-conception counseling for women with type 1 or 2 diabetes. Assists participants with managing diabetes throughout pregnancy to ensure the best possible outcome for mother and baby. Most insurances will cover.

• Childbirth Preparation - Relaxation, breathing patterns, positioning and labor-support techniques. $175
• Preparation for Breastfeeding Learn solutions to common breastfeeding problems. $45/person; $75/couple.
• Infant Care Recommended for expectant parents, grandparents, older siblings (ages 10 and up), child-care providers and babysitters. Learn basic infant care. $40/person; $80/couple.
• Family and Friends CPR Get hands-on practice for choking prevention and CPR techniques on both infant and child-size mannequins. $50/person; $100/couple
• Prepared Sibling Program Gets children ages 2 and older ready to become big brothers or sisters. Takes place at Sequoia Hospital. At least one adult in required to attend with child. $40/first child; $15/each additional child • Baby Safety Class Prepares caregivers for the many aspects of baby safety. $50/person; $100/couple
• New Parents Support Group A group that addresses early child-and parent-development issues. Wednesdays (newborns to 6 months) 9:30-11:30 a.m.

• Surgical Weight Loss Program offers the morbidly obese patient the opportunity to lose their weight with the help of surgery. Four types of surgery procedures are available.
