Quality and Safety Initiatives
• Sequoia Hospital’s inpatient Fall Prevention Program, developed by staff nurses on the Cardiac Surveillance Unit, was published as a “best practice” in the 2008 Joint Commission resource Reducing the Risk of Patient Harm Resulting from Falls: Toolkit for Implementing National Patient Safety Goal 9.
• Sequoia Hospital is a participant in the 2008 Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) 5 Million Lives Campaign. Sequoia has successfully implemented all 12 changes to care that save lives and reduce patient injuries. Sequoia is designated as a mentor hospital in this campaign and advises other hospitals nationwide.
